I had been hearing of this since a few days now and had a glance of it on the net too …. UNTIL….. I got a real demo. Woww!! Its amazing. The first one reminded me of those imported POP-OUT cartoon characters story book that my father got for me when I was in school. How about your face popping out to serve as your visiting card each time your client looks at it. Who’s ever gonna forget such a visiting card hmmm?? AR is not just about learning some new software. There is obviously video, writing, graphic design, and type skills needed but any creative should be able to handle it.
For those who are not really into the web..you too have benefits here…. Wouldn’t it be faaaar better if you be able to see what would exactly the product be that you have paid , when it is out of that packed box?!
Appshaker, London presented some amazingly impressive AR piece for National Geographic.
According to Wikipedia: Augmented reality (AR) is a live, direct or indirect, view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. It is related to a more general concept called mediated reality, in which a view of reality is modified (possibly even diminished rather than augmented) by a computer. As a result, the technology functions by enhancing one’s current perception of reality. By contrast, virtual reality replaces the real world with a simulated one.
